What customers say?

“ Everything was delicious! The side dishes were so tasty, we got the beef rib soup, grilled mackerel and ox bone soup which were all very well seasoned. Very good value for what you pay for too! Service was great, the owner was kind enough to cut the meat off the bones for our soup. He also let us try some fried chicken which was delicious! Will be coming back with friends! ”

“ We came by around 3:30pm, past lunch time, but the staff were still super friendly and welcoming . The restaurant was full but comfortable. We ordered Bossam and cold noodles, and were pleasantly surprised with extra tofu stew, plus honey soy fried chicken kindly offered by the owner. Delicious food, authentic flavours and amazing service. Highly recommend — thank you so much! ”

“ Went here for dinner today and as a Korean, I can say this place serves very authentic Korean food — it really hit the spot. Loved the side dishes, especially the scallion kimchi, traditional kimchi, and the salted fermented chilli squid. We had the tonkatsu, spicy Korean pork (jaeyook), and tteokbokki — all were terrific. Portion sizes were generous too. Highly recommend! ”

“ First time visit, the staff and owner are so sweet, we ordered a lot and managed to finish it! Fyi the soup, stew comes with rice and hotplate come with rice and soup, super delicious the soy pork belly hotplate, chicken soup was nice and boneless, got some entree fried sweet potato and squid, the crunch was nice. The owner gave us a try of his chicken and it's good!! Definitely will be back again. Our kids favourite is the steam egg. ”

“ The Korean food here tastes so authentic and delicious. The portions are so large that I didn’t expect them. The most impressive me is the free side dish, which contained kimchi and raw squid with Korean sauce. I have been to Korean and went to Korean restaurants several times but the dishes were so much better than others. Anyways, highly recommend this restaurant! ”

“ I give it 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4. Most people order the chicken but if you're wondering about the beansprout soup rice, here's my review of it. It's plain. There's a heaps load of Korean soybean sprouts in a clear soup boiled with octopus but there was barely any octopus bits in it. There's an egg in there as well. Kongnamul gukbap is usually served with marinated squid but they didn't serve it here. The 2 kimchi banchans are pretty nice but I didn't eat the pickled green pepper as it was too salty. This cost $22 which I feel is slightly overpriced for what it's worth. Service was brusque as the korean ahjussi (I presume the boss) looks like he just wanted to go home. ”

“ Basak & Jogumja has become my comfort place. I ordered the soy pork belly bibimbap and absolutely loved the flavours — the rice and sauce melt together in that cosy, slightly mushy way I love, but the veggies add the perfect crunch. It also comes with a soybean paste stew that’s surprisingly rich and warming… you can tell they take their soups seriously. Even the free sides were so generous (kimchi, creamy salad and even spicy raw octopus!). I also tried the beef rib soup and it was incredible — fall-off-the-bone tender, bold, peppery, very beefy and so comforting. The glass noodles inside make it even better. Portions are great, staff are lovely, and everything feels like real comfort food. ”
